NEEDED TO BE
CO-DIRECTOR
Co-written by Rob Amuruso and Kaybee, Needed to Be is a song of self-reckoning, scored in truth and grace. The music video, conceptualised by Kaybee in consultation with Sophie Marsh and co-directed with Joseph Purdam, expands that pulse into a visual immersion on belonging and the quiet violence of losing oneself. Shot betweeen North Melbourne and on Kaybee’s bubu on Kuku Yalanji Country (Mossman, QLD), it contrasts the sterile hum of city hustle with the visceral return to Country: to land, spirit, and communion. A work about remembering what sustains us, and what must fall away.

CHARACTER REFERENCE
WRITER
A CULTURE MACHINE production for Kult Models, “Character Reference” dissects the archetype of the muse through the language of absurdity. A surreal portrait where fashion becomes theatre and self-mythology collapses under its own reflection. Written as both satire and study, it indulges in the comedy of becoming and the tragedy of being looked at.
